Scariest thing ever seen at Pim & McNabb (18 photos)

The scariest thing about Halloween, hands down, is when you're invited to a party and don't have a thing to wear. No worries, though. The Monster Halloween Store is open now.

The scariest thing about Halloween, hands down, is when you're invited to a party and don't have a thing to wear.

No worries, though.

The Monster Halloween Store is open now.

Until November 5, you can find everything spooky at the corner of Pim and McNabb Streets.

Co-owner Maurice Saindon (shown with one of his eager animatronic creatures) says he and his business partner decided to give the idea a try here in the Sault when he went looking for Halloween decorations for a party and found there wasn't much selection.

The store is 7,000 square feet and about two-thirds full of animatronics, decorations, costumes, make-up and novelties.

It has a huge selection of adult-sized costumes, masks, and accessories.

The other third of the store is under wraps until Halloween weekend, when the kids from E.S. Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs will be hosting a very spooky haunted house.

Admission will be by a minimum donation of $2 per person and all proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

The Haunted House will be open on Saturday and Sunday October 30 and 31 from 12 to 4 p.m.

The Monster Halloween Store, located between Sugar and Spice and Blockbuster Video at the corner of Pim and McNabb, is open weekdays from 12 to 9 p.m. and this weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Halloween weekend, the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Some other new stores that opened recently:

- Woolies is now open at 805 Queen Street East. It carries yarn, needles, patterns and accessories and will soon offer ‘how-to’ classes. Woolies was formerly located in the Cambrian Mall.

- Stork and Bundle is also on Queens Street East, next to Foch’s Cleaners. This new store has fashionable maternity clothing plus nursing bras, some children’s books, etc.

- Mann Florist has re-opened at a temporary location at 332 Queen Street East, a few doors east of their regular site, where the business suffered a fire last month. "Although a re-opening date for their original location has yet to be determined, owners Shirley Richards and Gudrun Schatzler are back at filling floral orders and ready to create those beautiful arrangements and baskets that have made them a long-time reputable florist shop," says Downtown Association Communication Strategist Cindy Ellen Crawford. "They’re open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call 256-5615 to place your order."

- Pro-Jersey Encounter opened at 127 Bruce Street right after Thanksgiving. The shop carries authentic pro jerseys from the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB and TapOut.

- The all-new Comfort Suites and Conference Centre has opened in the former Great Northern hotel after 10 months of renovations that completed an incredible transformation. The renovated space also includes the Quattro Chophouse and The Greenhouse Spa.
