************************* OPP investigate drowning in Reilly Twp

REILLY TWP, ON - Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to Ranger Lake yesterday evening at approximately 7:50 p.m. in regards to an overturned boat with one missing occupant.

Sunday at 12 p.m., a couple set off on Ranger Lake in a 12-foot aluminum boat with a 9.8-horsepower outboard motor for a day of fishing.

The weather was sunny with moderate winds from the northwest and one-foot waves.

As the wind picked up later in the day, the couple decided to return to the boat launch.

The male was driving the boat and the female sitting on the front bench.

A series of waves hit the left side of the boat and both occupants ended up in the water.

The female passenger hung onto the boat while the male was separated from the vessel.

Both were not wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.

The female clung to the boat with the dog as it drifted to shore.

The body of the deceased, 39-year-old Travis MacIntosh of 264 Pittsburgh Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was recovered on the eastern shore of Ranger Lake.

An autopsy is scheduled for this morning.

The investigation is continuing.
