Saultbies star in latest Lake Superior magazine

************************* Two Sault area residents in newest Lake Superior Magazine

The April/May 2010 issue of Lake Superior Magazine mailed to subscribers today and features a number of stories that will appeal to the Sault Ste. Marie area.

A story by Chris Winters on the Beauty Queen of the Lake, the Edward L. Ryerson, features two short side pieces with Know Your Ships publisher and Sault native Roger LeLievre and with Jill Lucy from DeTour Village.

A stunning photo feature by Layne Kennedy focuses on the Slate Islands just south of Terrace Bay and one of the few places – along with Lake Superior Provincial Park – where caribou roam.

Lighthouse enthusiasts will love reading about Loren and Pat Graham.

They purchased the Old North Lighthouse on Grand Island near Munising and brought it back from the brink of ruin.

The couple now spends their summers on the island.

This issue includes the first installment of Full Circle, a new column by Mike Link and Kate Crowley who will begin a walk around Lake Superior on April 29 from Duluth.

The magazine will include dispatches from their journey during the coming year.

Our Spring Recreation Guide includes an article by J. Eric Eckard describing the basics of kayaking and offering tips from Gary and Joanie McGuffin of Goulais River.

The McGuffins are photographers, expert kayakers and the authors of Paddle Your Own Kayak: An Illustrated Guide to the Art of Kayaking.
