Sault to host Docs On Ice charity event for first time in over 30 years

Docs On Ice is gearing up for its 37th year, and for the first time in over 30 years Sault Ste. Marie will host the two-day hockey tournament that brings physicians from across the province to compete and raise money for local charities. As an enthusiastic hockey community, local doctors are thrilled to bring Docs On Ice 2020 to Sault Ste. Marie. 

Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma is in the midst of a major public health challenge: the outcome of problematic substance use and addiction. In 2017, Sault Ste. Mare and Area had higher death rates, hospitalization rates, Hepatitis C acquisitions, newborn complications and associated mental health disorders than virtually every other district of its size in Canada. 

Docs On Ice is proud to partner with The Algoma Family Services Foundation for this year’s tournament. This partnership will allow Docs On Ice to direct all funds raised from the event to the AFS Foundation in support of youth addiction prevention and treatment.
