The Sault Ste. Marie Kennel Club is holding their 182nd-187th All-Breed championship, unbenched indoor dog shows at the Soo Curling Club on May 16 through 18, 2015. 

In addition to conformation, on Saturday and Sunday, the club will also hold 4 licensed obedience trials and 4 licensed rally obedience trials.

New this year is the addition of an all-breed eye clinic with Dr. Nick Whelan, BVSc, MVSc, MACVSc, Diplomate ACVCP, Diplomate ACVO. 

The clinic will be Saturday, May 16, but Dr. Whelan will take referrals from local veterinarians until Monday, May 11. 

The minimum age of animals is 6 weeks of age. 

Cats are welcome as well. 

Dr. Whelan will be conducting a

  1. CERF exam: to determine if a dog has any inherited ocular disorder that would make the dog unsuitable for breeding
  2. MEDICAL exam: for cats and dogs, when a known problem exists or is suspected.

All applicants will be contacted between May 11 to 13 with appointment times. 

Organizers will try to accommodate everyone with their preferred times, however, appointment times will be allotted on a first come, first served basis.

One of the founding members, Fred Gordon will be recognized for his years of service to the dog community. 

Gordon will be retiring from judging after his assignments this weekend. 

Gordon judged for 31 years, 20 years as an all-breed judge.

Canine Good Neighbour test is being held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. 

CGN evaluator will be Joan Richard.

Saturday, May 16:           Conformation            9 a.m.
Obedience/Obedience Rally       9 a.m.

Sunday, May 17:              Conformation            9 a.m.                                                        
                                                  Obedience/Obedience Rally       9 a.m.

Monday, May 18:            Conformation            8 a.m.
                                                         
Admission is free to the public. 

Dogs, other than registered for the shows and trials, are not allowed. 

Junior handling competitions will be on Saturday in conformation.

Best in Show will be held at the end of each show.

The Sault Ste. Marie Kennel Club is a dedicated group of owners and breeders of purebred dogs in the Sault Ste. Marie area. 

The objective of this not-for-profit club is to promote responsible dog ownership and interest in and improvement of purebred and mixed breed dogs.
