Vietnam's ambassador to Canada is hoping to return to Sault Ste. Marie later this year with her nation's industry ministry and ambassadors from six other Asian nations.
"We are very impressed by the beauty and the openness and the hospitality of your city," Nguyen Thi Hoi (shown) said as her four-person delegation wrapped up a two-day visit to the Sault.
The ambassador is currently chairing a group of ambassadors representing seven Asian countries, and she told City officials today that she'll ask the entire group to accompany her on a return visit to Sault Ste. Marie.
She's also interested in setting up an exchange of trade and cultural missions between the Sault and Vietnam.
Other members of the ambassador's delegation were her deputy Nguyen Quoc Cuong James Biocchi of Toronto-based Delta Consultants Inc. and Maurice Vincent Nguyen representing the Vietnamese Community of Ontario.

During their visit, the Vietnam delegates toured a number of local industries including Algoma Steel and St. Marys Paper.
The ambassador said she was especially impressed by China Steel and Fitzpatrick Industries.
If she's successful, the seven-nation return visit will include ambassadors from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Kampuchea.
Sault MP Carmen Provenanzo greeted the ambassador and her group today, expressing interest in joining other MPs on a federal trade mission to Vietnam.
