Sault Ste. Marie native Marty Turco has signed with the Boston Bruins.
The defending Stanley Cup champions signed Turco after learning that goaltender Tuukka Rask would be out for 4-6 weeks with a lower abdomen strain/groin strain.
Turco signed a one-year contract with the Bruins but must clear waivers before joining the team.
The 36-year-old has played in 538 regular season games split between the Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks. He has posted a 273-165-26-40 record with a .910 save percentage and a 2.35 goals against average with 41 shutouts. He also has a 21-26 record in the post season.
