Sault man thought he won $75, 'shocked' to find out it was actually $71,000

Andrew Bremner says he plans to use his winnings from Sault Area Hospital Foundation's March 50/50 draw to support his retirement

Local resident Andrew Bremner was "in shock" to hear he won March's Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) 50/50 draw.

Bremner won $70,975 in the March 28 draw, and said he initially thought he won $75 when he received the call, a news release issued by SAHF today states.

He plans to use his winnings to support his retirement.

On March 28 , Andrew Bremner of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. won a $70,975 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) March 50/50 draw. Andrew’s lucky number (M-7779926) was drawn electronically, and he was called immediately.

He was in shock when he first got the call, and thought he won $75 dollars. Andrew couldn’t believe it when he was told it was quite a bit more than that! He plans to use his winnings to support his retirement.

Andrew wasn’t the only winner this month – March’s Early Bird, Ozzie Grandinetti of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, was the lucky winner of $10,000 on March 13 with ticket M-4062462.

“It’s great to see two local winners this month,“ said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Every ticket purchased not only has the potential to transform the life of the lucky winner, but also has a positive impact in our community. Tickets for SAHF’s April 50/50 draw are on sale now! Get your tickets before April 17th for a chance to win the $10,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.

Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
