NEWS RELEASE

FRANCO-ONTARIAN YOUTH FEDERATION

************************* The 16th Franco-Ontarian Games are in Sault Ste. Marie!

December 17 - FESFO, the Franco-Ontarian Youth Federation, is proud to announce that the city of Sault Ste. Marie will be hosting the 16th edition of the Franco-Ontarian Games.

Approximately 1,000 teens will be participating in this event during the long weekend from May 15 to 18, 2009, at Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs Secondary School of the Conseil scolaire de distict catholique du Nouvel-Ontario.

The Franco-Ontarian Games are the biggest annual and provincial French youth gathering since 1994.

Youths from all over the province will come together to display their talents in seven divisions: music, visual arts, improv, circus arts, sports and athletics, quiz and, for the first time, dance.

The community hosting the games will contribute efforts, resources and countless volunteer hours to the organization of this event.

By doing so, the members of the community will benefit from a dynamic gathering and nearly 200 performances that will be open to the public.

The principle of “for youth, by youth” has always been fundamental to the FESFO.

Therefore, we are extremely delighted to be welcomed by a community, a school team and a school board who understand the importance of this principle.

Keep your eyes and ears open for the announcement of the official launching of the 16th Franco-Ontarian Games that will take place next semester.

We hope to see you at the Games in Sault Ste. Marie!
