************************* Mortar gun damaged

CHAPLEAU - On September 11, 2009, at approximately 12:29 a.m. a World War 1 mortar gun which had been on display in front of the Chapleau Royal Canadian Legion for over 30 years, was pushed off its concrete base causing considerable damage to the gun and base.

As a result of investigation and interviewing witnesses, Michael Annett, age 22, and Colby Nadeau, age 21, both of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario have been charged with mischief over $5,000 and will appear in Chapleau criminal court on November 18, 2009, to answer to the charges.

RIDE - Over the past weekend officers checked 145 vehicles throughout the Superior East patrol area resulting in one three-day driver’s licence suspension as a result of registering a “warn” on a roadside breathalyser; various Liquor Licence Act and Highway Traffic Act charges were also laid.
