Sault College and Humber College have joined forces to deliver a new engineering degree in Sault Ste. Marie.

Sault Ste. Marie MPP and Minister of Colleges and Universities, Ross Romano, made the announcement this morning.

Delivered by Humber College, the Bachelor of Engineering - Mechatronics program at Sault College will begin in 2022.

"This degree fosters a unique opportunity for those living in Sault Ste. Marie and for those who want to experience everything our College and City has to offer," said Dr. Ron Common, president, Sault College in a news release issued today. "Graduates of the Engineering - Mechatronics program will be highly qualified with hands-on and in-depth skills and knowledge for this emerging field, building a strong foundation for a successful career and strengthening the workforce and economy both locally and beyond."

"Students in Northern Ontario face unique challenges, including vast distances between communities, while facing specific labour market demands," said Romano in the news release. "This is an incredible opportunity for students to pursue a high-demand career in engineering while living closer to home."
