*************************** College ground-breaking ceremony announced

SAULT STE. MARIE - (August 13) - Sault College is pleased with the progress it is making with the first phase of the campus renewal project.

Named Project 2011 to reflect the anticipated completion date of the project, this initiative will see a change to the College’s front entrance as well as the building of a new academic wing along Northern Avenue.

A ground-breaking ceremony with Sault College alumni, staff, students, board of governors, government funding partners and the public invited to attend will take place in front of the College on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m.

A reception will be held afterwards inside the College to commemorate the occasion.

The general location of the new building has now been visibly laid out - with spray painted marks drawn in the front parking lot of the College.

On Tuesday, August 11, Dr. Ron Common, president of the College, invited staff to walk with him and Mr. North as he reviewed plans for the new building.

“Geotechnical and existing condition surveys have now been completed by the design/build team,” reports George North, project manager for the initiative. “Block schematic design and room data sheets are being quickly developed with cooperation by the College and the design team.”

“We are pleased with the progress to date,” states President Common. “Targets are being met and everything is proceeding as planned.”
