Sault College will move ahead with plans to build a multi-sport turf field, track and field house. The school's board of governors voted in favour of the new facilities at a meeting Thursday, according to a news release.

The Board of Governors supports the advancement of Sault College's campus infrastructure with projects such as expanding on-campus residence capacity, and today’s approval to develop plans to build a turf field, track, and field house. These are investments in the future of this college and in this community,” said board Chair Don Mitchell.

This initiative underscores the college’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of its students while creating opportunities for future growth and community engagement, the release added. This initiative also aims to enhance the student experience and campus life, expand opportunities for recreation and varsity sports, and support student recruitment efforts.

“Our vision for a new turf field, track, and a field house is a symbol of our commitment to investing in our students,” said Director of Athletics and Student Experience Paul Orazietti. “Athletics play an important role in shaping the student experience and we are confident that this new infrastructure will create more opportunities for recreational sport, training, competition, student recruitment and overall sport excellence."
