************************** SAH unveils strategic plan

Sault Area Hospital officials were joined by interim North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) Chair Peter Vaudry and many local and regional health care stakeholders and community representatives as the hospital’s updated long-term strategic plan was unveiled today.

Under the auspices of the SAH Board, Strategic Plan 2010 - 2015 was developed with input from more than 100 employees, physicians, volunteers, board members, community representatives and other partners who participated in focus groups, brainstorming sessions and reviews of the work in progress.

“The plan maps out the course of the hospital over the next five years, providing direction for our activities and a focus for the investment of our time and resources,” said SAH Board Chair Elaine Pitcher. “It represents a true collaboration between those providing the service and the public which we serve.”

Strategic Plan 2010 is aligned with both the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s objective of improving access to services, as well as the priorities outlined in the NE LHIN’s Integrated Health Services Plan.

It centres around four key strategic priorities of quality care, people, partnerships and operational efficiency.

“By investing in the development of our people, identifying and implementing innovative new ways to provide quality care to our patients, maximizing the value of our partnerships and enhancing our operational efficiency, we will create the foundation needed to realize our vision of becoming the best hospital in Canada,” added SAH President and CEO Ron Gagnon. “There is an exciting future on the horizon for Sault Area Hospital and we look forward to our journey together.”
