Rotary Club cuts Children's Wish a cheque (3 photos)

Donation made for cross-country convenience store fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie presented the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada with a cheque for $500 at the Trunk Road Esso Wednesday.

The donation was presented during National C-store Day, an event held each year by the Canadian Convenience Stores Association (CCSA) in order to raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

“It’s great to partner up with the Children’s Make A Wish Foundation, just because it fits in perfectly with the Rotary mandate,” said Paul Kowalyk for the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie. “It’s a natural fit to come in and support a cause of this nature, but also to support MacDougall Energy, who’s done a ton of good work in our community locally.”

Billy ‘Dozer’ Adam and his family - who were able to spend a weekend with the Ottawa Senators earlier this year through Children' Wish Foundation of Canada - were on hand to receive the donation on behalf of the foundation.

CCSA raised $82,000 for the foundation during last year’s National C-store Day, and hopes to surpass that by drumming up $100,000 in donations during this year’s event.
