OPP NEWS RELEASE
************************** ELLIOT LAKE, ON – On July 25 at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers of the East Algoma OPP were conducting stationary traffic enforcement on Axmith Avenue.
The officer conducted a traffic stop of a subject driving an all-terrain motor vehicle.
The subject was unable to surrender a driver’s licence, vehicle permit, or insurance liability card.
Charged with the following is Ronald Stephen Hawes (51) of Elliot Lake:
- Exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol.
- Possession of cannabis – under one gram.
Hawes is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 7.
Hawes was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle.
- Driver fail to surrender licence.
The subject was also charged with failing to surrender insurance card.
