Rodney King, 47, whose savage beating at the hands of four Los Angeles police officers in 1991 sparked riots that resulted in at least 50 deaths in the United States, was found dead in his swimming pool early Sunday morning.
An autopsy on Kings body will be conducted but police in Rialto, California, say there are no preliminary signs of foul play.
A drowning investigation will also be conducted.
King's body was discovered at the bottom of his pool at about 5:30 a.m. today by his fiancee.
Paramedics attempted to revive him but he was pronounced dead at hospital.
