************************* BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION, ON - A RIDE check on the Batchewana First Nation on Saturday morning found one underage teenager drinking and driving.

At about 1:40 a.m., officers with the Sault Ste. Marie OPP were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Frontenac and Pontiac Streets on the Batchewana First Nation.

A vehicle approached the checkpoint and drove past the officers and cruisers, stopping some 100 feet past the area.

A conversation with the driver revealed the presence of alcohol on her breath.

She was given a roadside test and failed the test.

Further testing at the police detachment indicated that she was over the legal limit to be driving.

As a result of this stop, a 17-year-old Garden River female faces charges of driving while over .08 contrary to the Criminal Code and driving with no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
