A local pawn shop was on the look-out for Isreal Neveau when he showed up at the Tancred Street business with a stolen multi-media health care tool.
The $60-instrument, which was still in a box, was taken from a vehicle parked in a hotel parking lot on March 20.
At 2:30 p.m., police were contacted after Neveau arrived at Second Hand World and tried to sell the tool, Ontario Court Justice Melanie Dunn was told Monday.
The 45-year-old accused pleaded guilty to seven charges Monday, including three offences – possession of property obtained by crime and two breaches of court orders – stemming from that March incident.
At the time, Neveau was on a recognizance of bail with a condition that he not go to the business, prosecutor Matthew Caputo said.
The accused also was convicted of May 17 charges, which included the theft of $78 worth of meat from Wal-Mart in the Station Mall, as well as an April 9 theft from a supermarket.
On the April date, Neveau was at Joe's No Frills on Korah Road and concealed meat, cheese and dairy items, valued at $82, in a re-useable bag.
He then went to a checkout, where he paid $4 for an item, but didn't pay for the merchandise in the bag, Caputo said.
Neveau was nabbed by a store loss prevention officer.
In both incidents at the grocery stores, the property was recovered, the assistant Crown attorney said.
Defence lawyer Eric McCooeye asked for a short adjournment of the sentencing.
He requested that the matters be put over until Aug. 12 so his client can make contact with a Gladue report writer.
Dunn agreed, telling Neveau she was giving him a chance, but he has to show up to that meeting.
