Reindeer games: Rudolph the red-nosed street sign returns to St. Joseph Island

'I know you are not supposed to mark up a road sign but this is really cute'

There is a Secret Santa hard at work on St. Joseph Island.

In what has become an annual holiday tradition, a mystery person (or people) has stuck red "noses" on the yellow and black deer crossing signs throughout the community.

The goal, of course, is to temporarily transform the deer on the sign into Rudolph — just in time for Christmas.

If this Facebook post is any indication, those little red dots have spread a whole lot of festive cheer. At last count, the post has generated 32,000 likes and been shared nearly 10,000 times.

"Every year someone does this!!" one person commented. "I Love it!!"

"I know you are not supposed to mark up a road sign but this is really cute," wrote another.

"Person does this every year for as long as I can remember!! I look forward to it to be honest ðŸ˜Š. Never stop it .. I hope it becomes generation after generation annual thing."

"Anything fun that causes drivers to look more carefully for deer on or near the roads is alright by me!"

Are you responsible for these red noses? Do you know who is? Please reach out to [email protected] or leave a comment below.

For those few Scrooges out there, rest assured that SooToday will be checking to make sure the stickers are removed after Christmas.
