Sault Ste. Marie's new residential withdrawal and safe beds program facility will be opening soon, and Sault Area Hospital will be offering guided tours of the Northway Wellness Centre later this week.

The tours, which are come-and-go, will be available at the Old Garden River Road facility on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Parking is available at the rear of the facility, the former Sault Star building.

The program provides in-house treatment for up to 30 days for stabilization and to prevent mental health inpatient admissions or entry into the criminal justice system. The beds are designed for those with mental health and/or addiction needs that are suitable for non-medical intervention and can be supported in a community/home-like setting rather than in a hospital.

The service is available to individuals 16 and older who are experiencing substance withdrawal, are intoxicated, or are seeking help with relapse prevention.
