Let's clean up on April 22

Participate in the Sault Ste. Marie 20-minute makeover

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Sault Ste. Marie community is invited to participate in the 2nd Annual 20-Minute Makeover on Monday, April 22, 2013.

To take part, registered participants are required to clean up outside their home or business for at least 20 minutes.

The intent of the community clean-up is to promote civic pride, city beautification, and celebrate Earth Day.

Registered participants receive a litter kit containing gloves, garbage bags, and other items – while supplies last.

Registration forms and event information is available on the City website at www.cityssm.on.ca – City Hall Bulletins.

Forms are also available in the Civic Centre lobby.

Participants can drop off completed registration forms and pick-up litter kits at several locations including: Civic Centre lobby, Walmart North (Great Northern Road) courtesy desk, and the Downtown Association office (496 Queen Street East).

Prizes will be awarded for the best participant photos taken during the event, including a jacket made from reusable bags autographed by David Suzuki, gift baskets, gift cards, and rain barrels.

Councillor Steve Butland will kick off the event at the Civic Centre at 11 a.m. on April 22.

In 2012, over 500 registered residents and 30 organizations participated in the 20-Minute Makeover event.
