Nick Cimino got his first ride in an airplane today at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport, thanks to the Young Eagles program, which gives interested young people aged 8 to 17 a chance to go flying in a general aviation aircraft.

The flights are offered free through the generosity of more than 40,000 volunteer pilots.

Since 1992 more than 1.2 million young people have experienced flight through the Young Eagles program.

The program's international chair is actor Harrison Ford, who's also an experienced pilot.
