Power outage hits Algoma University (11:05 a.m. update)

At 11:05 a.m. today, the PUC advised SooToday.com that power has been restored to customers as of 10:09 a.m. The cause of the outage was equipment failure due to a failed high voltage lightning arrestor.

At 11:05 a.m. today, the PUC advised SooToday.com that power has been restored to customers as of 10:09 a.m.

The cause of the outage was equipment failure due to a failed high voltage lightning arrestor.

Customers who are still without power are asked to phone the PUC emergency line at 759-6555.

This is a description of an unplanned power interruption(s) that is currently affecting PUC Distribution customers in Sault Ste. Marie.

Interruption Date: June 17, 2008

Cause

Under investigation - crews responding to report of damage.

PUC staff are currently investigating the cause of the interruption and will take corrective action by making repairs or switching around the problem as soon as possible.

Description of area involved

Trunk south to river; Dacey east to city limits, south of Birchwood to river; west of Dacey to Denwood, Queen Street East from Barber to Lake and all the side Streets, Algoma University.
