Two men were arrested yesterday afternoon after City Police interrupted what they say was a break-in in progress on Beech Street.

When police arrived just after 1:30 p.m., they found one man inside the residence and another outside.

Police seized a quantity of cash and some jewellery.

Twenty-one-year-old Ryan Harris of 715 Douglas Street, Apt. 9 was charged with break and entering and commiting an indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime and obstructing police by giving them a false name.

Harris is further charged with possession of housebreaking tools (a screwdriver and pliers), as well as two counts of breaching an undertaking by failing to adhere to conditions of house arrest and failing to notify of a change of address.

Thirty-seven-year-old John Laundrie of 418 Wellington Street West was charged with one count of break and enter and commiting an offence, and one count of possession of stolen property.

Laundrie was also charged with resisting arrest after police say he tried to flee the crime scene.

He's further charged with failing to appear in court.

The two (not exactly as illustrated) were due for a video court appearance today.
