************************* Serious pedestrian – motor vehicle collision

On Saturday at 5:52 p.m., the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call of a collision between a motor vehicle and pedestrian who was crossing Truck Road between Churchill Plaza and a pathway leading to Breton Road.

The 43-year-old female pedestrian was struck in the curb lane by a westbound vehicle being driven by a 47-year-old female.

The pedestrian was taken to Sault Area Hospital where last reports indicate that she is in very serious condition.

Trunk Road was closed between Lake Street and Wellington Street until 1:30 a.m. while the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s traffic and forensic units were on the scene investigating the collision.

The investigation is continuing and no further details are available at this time.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in this investigation.
