************************* Two persons arrested as a result of joint drug search warrant at Bonney Street residence On the 20th of November at approximately 10:40 p.m., members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service street team and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police drug section executed a search warrant at 802 Bonney Street.

Upon police entering the residence, one of the accused threw two digital scales and a bag containing various amounts of cocaine out the second-storey window, in an attempt to conceal or destroy evidence from the police.

As a result of the search, officers located and seized 10.5 grams of cocaine (packaged for resale at the street level), 2.5 grams of marijuana, codeine, two digital scales, cutting agents and $540 in Canadian currency, seized as offence-related property.

In addition, officers located a butterfly knife that opens with centrifugal force, making it a prohibited weapon.

As a result, the resident of 802 Bonney Street, 19-year-old Derrick Derasp was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon in contravention of a prohibition order and one count of attempt to obstruct police.

At the time of the offences, Derasp was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and was charged with one count of breaching that order.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

A female who was at the residence at the time, 18-year-old Taylor Dow of 1 Bolton Street in Desbarats, Ontario was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. 

She is to appear in court on the 20th of December.
