Police seek public's help with car fire investigation

CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

************************* On July 26, just before 11 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie and Police and Fire Services attended at a car fire in the driveway of a residence in the 300 block of Bruce Street.

Fire services have advised City police that the cause of the fire is unknown and appears suspicious.

Investigation Services with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service engaged in an investigation early yesterday morning.

Police received information at the time of the incident; a witness observed two male youths running northbound on Bruce Street away from the area of the fire and may be involved.

No further description is available.

Investigators do not believe at this time this fire is connected to the recent suspicious resident and shed fires that the are currently investigating.

The vehicle involved, a 1993 red Ford Expedition, has been parked at the vacant residence for some time and has not been operated for at least a year.

It was extensively damaged.

Officers are still attempting to identify the owner of the vehicle that has been parked at the vacant residence and has not been operated for at least a year.
