*************************** City Police requesting the public’s assistance in hit-and-run investigation

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Traffic Services are requesting the public’s assistance in their investigation into a hit-and-run collision involving a pickup truck and a cyclist.

The collision occurred on the 4th of August at approximately 5:38 p.m. at the townhouse complex at 702 Second Line West.

A five-year-old cyclist was travelling through the parking lot on his bike and was struck by a pickup truck that was reversing from a parking spot in the lot.

After the collision, the male driver of the truck stopped and spoke with the child for a moment and then left the scene.

The child received minor injuries.

The truck was either a Chev or GMC extended cab, long box, blue in colour.

The only description of the driver is that he is a male and was wearing a cowboy hat at the time of the collision.

Officers are requesting that the driver involved contact city police at 949-6300, Traffic Services at either Extension 383 or 348 so that they can complete the report.
