Police in Montreal say charges are expected soon, after a Sault man was arrested in a truck believed to be involved in a fatal hit and run in Quebec on Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a recent press release that a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado that was reported stolen from Montreal was stopped Monday in the municipality of West Nippising, after complaints of a pickup truck swerving and stopping on the side of the road.

Police say the vehicle was stolen between Sept. 20 and 22.

Stephen Harley Pinnell, 33, of Sault Ste. Marie, faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, breach of probation and various Highway Traffic Act offences.

On Wednesday, the pickup truck was determined by Montreal Police to have been involved in a collision in the city's Plateau Mont-Royal district on Sunday that left 79-year-old Zelia Ponte Araujo dead.

The Montreal Gazette reports that charges have been filed as part of a Quebec warrant for Pinnell's arrest.

Montreal Police told SooToday officers will travel to North Bay in the near future to transport Pinnell to Quebec.

Pinnell is currently being held in Ontario pending a bail hearing.
