Police make arrest after Whitefish Island vandalism

WHITEFISH ISLAND, ONT. – On July 25, 2016 at 9:20 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Whitefish Island on Canal Drive regarding a report of mischief to the bridge and walkway. 

The property had been spray painted.

OPP attended the scene and as a result of police investigation Don Jones, age 20, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

One count of Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

One count of Consuming Liquor in other than licensed premises, residence or private place contrary to Section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act. 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on September 12, 2016.
