Police investigate crime linked to missing person

Many officers from Sault Ste. Marie Police Services and Ontario Provincial Police are currently on the scene at 345 St. Georges Avenue East.

That's where Battina Harris lives.

Yesterday, Sault Ste. Marie police asked the public for help to locate Harris and then later thanked the public for its assistance saying she had been found.

Harris was found alive and well and police say that, what ever has transpired in the eight days since she was last seen at her apartment poses no threat to public safety.

But they are conducting a criminal investigation into those events.

The Forensic Identification Unit and Emergency Services Unit are on site as well as several patrol cars.

The Emergency Services Unit is conducting a grid search for evidence in the area to try to determine what exactly transpired in the the time since Harris was last seen at her residence at 345 St. Georges Avenue East.
