NEWS RELEASES

************************* Twenty-seven-year-old Christian Andrew Boissoneau of 173 Goulais Avenue is in custody and awaiting bail on robbery charges stemming from two separate incidents.

It is alleged that yesterday at approximately 10:26 p.m. the accused entered the Mac’s Convenience Store (187 Gore Street) brandishing a large knife that he used in demanding money.

The clerk complied giving him a quantity of cash and the accused fled towards the downtown area.

K-9 Tazer attended with his handler and was assisted by patrol officers and members of the emergency services unit in tracking the accused.

However, he eluded capture at that time.

This morning at approximately 2:20 a.m. it is alleged that the accused was picked up by a local taxi cab at a residence on Boston Avenue.

The accused directed the cab driver to the 700 block of Wellingtion Street East where he produced a sharp object, held it to the back of the drivers neck and threatened to kill him if he did not comply with his demand for money.

The accused again fled on foot with a quantity of cash.

Patrol officers immediately set up a perimeter in the area while K-9 tracked the accused with members of the emergency services unit.

The accused was located by diligent officers at 2:57 a.m. in an alley near the 100 block of Albert Street East.

He was subsequently arrested for robbery and officers determined that he had [allegedly] been responsible for the previous incident at the Mac’s Mart.

Mr. Boissoneau was subsequently charged with two counts of robbery and breach of probation (for not keeping the peace and being of good behaviour).

The cab driver was relatively unharmed but did attend the hospital for minor injuries.
