************************* Drug warrant arrest On the 25th of April at approximately 10:10 p.m., members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service emergency services unit and street team executed a search warrant at 171B Willow Avenue, Apartment 5.
During the course of the search, officers located a small amount of marijuana and two prohibited weapons: a knife that opens with centrifugal force and pepper spray.
As a result, 18-year-old Michael Fleury-Laine of that address was charged with count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
He is to appear in court on the 7th of June.
*************************** Male charged with taxi fraud
Nineteen-year-old Norbert Groulx of 677 Queen Street East was arrested on the 24th of April at 5:02 a.m. on Queen Street East and charged with one count of transportation fraud.
It is alleged that on the 24th of April at approximately 3:40 a.m., the accused took a taxi from his residence to a location on Boundary Road and did not pay his fare.
He is to appear in court on the 2nd of June.
*************************** Shoplifting arrests
Forty-year-old Wayne Corbett of #3-157 Willow Avenue was arrested on the 23rd of April at 7:25 p.m. at Rome’s Independent Grocers and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 23rd of April, the accused attended at the store around 7:38 p.m. and stole some items. He was apprehended by store security and held for police He is to appear in court on the 31st of May.
Forty-one-year-old Robert Larochelle of #303-525 Cooper Street was arrested on the 24th of April at 4:08 p.m. at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store on the 24th of April at 1:35 p.m. and stole some pain medication. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. He is to attend in court on the 31st of May.
