Police check out gunfire report in Kapuskasing - one dead

OPP NEWS RELEASE COMPILATION

************************* KAPUSKASING, ON - Members of the Kapuskasing OPP cordoned off a portion of Mitchell Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday as part of an investigation into a report of a gunshot at a local residence.

The Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU) from general headquarters in Orillia was called in.

Emergency Response Team members and the OPP helicopter were on scene and assisted with the investigation.

Members of the Tactical Rescue Unit entered the residence shortly before 2 a.m. today and located a 46-year-old deceased male.

The circumstances of his death are under investigation with the assistance of the South Porcupine Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) and the Kapuskasing Crime Unit.

It has been determined that a firearm was not involved and foul play is not suspected.
