Yes, Spring is definitely around the corner. It officially starts Saturday, but there were definite indicators on Friday that warm weather will shortly be upon us. At noon, Lake Superior State University held the 34th annual burning of the snowman.

It officially starts Saturday, but there were definite indicators on Friday that warm weather will shortly be upon us.

At noon, Lake Superior State University held the 34th annual burning of the snowman.

And the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Mackinaw (shown) locked upbound for the first time this year, proceeding into the Upper St. Marys River to break ice in Whitefish Bay.

The locks open to commercial traffic next Thursday.
