Planning to head to Searchmont Resort? Read this first

Opening weekend of Searchmont Resort is upon us and the ski hill has experienced a bit of a hiccup.

It seems the motor on the triple lift failed early this afternoon and is currently in Sault Ste. Marie for assessment.

It is not yet known if the motor requires repair or complete replacement, or when the triple lift will open.

Management is doing everything in its power to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible.

The Resort reports that the only open lift on Sunday, December 21 and Monday, December 22 will be that of the Learning Centre Poma (bunny hill).

Guest facilities, including equipment rentals, and beverage and food service will operate as normal.

Rusty McCarthy is scheduled to provide live entertainment in the lodge on Monday afternoon from noon to 3 p.m.
