Pita Pit Canada is pleased to announce the opening of a second location in Sault Ste. Marie. The new location at 710 Second Line E. is owned and operated by Matthew DiFlumeri.

Pita Pit Canada has recently developed a national partnership with Breakfast Clubs of Canada and it is through this partnership that Pita Pit reached out to Student Nutrition Algoma.

As part of Pita Pit Canada’s commitment to communities, each time a new location is opened a local charity is chosen to be the beneficiary of the Friends and Family Day.

The friends and family day is an opportunity for the owner/operator to invite friends and family to check out the new location and sample products - all for a donation to the selected charity.

The franchisee has chosen to partner with Student Nutrition Algoma, under the Algoma Family Services (AFS) Foundation umbrella. All donations received on the Friends and Family day as well as $1 from every pita sold on Saturday, Dec. 16 and Monday, Dec. 18 at both locations in Sault Ste. Marie will directly benefit Student Nutrition Programs in Sault Ste. Marie.

Student Nutrition Algoma oversees breakfast, morning meals, snacks and lunches that feed approximately 1.1 million meals annually across Algoma. Within the city of Sault Ste. Marie 97 per cent of schools have a meal program benefiting over 8,000 students annually.

The AFS Foundation promotes the services of Algoma Family Services to generate heightened community awareness of the specific needs of children with mental health challenges and the programs and services available to assist them.

The AFS foundation assists by providing meaningful opportunities for the community to help resource mental health programs for children and youth in Algoma which would otherwise not be available through provincial funding, including the Student Nutrition Program.
