St. Mary's College students have found more than 180 thousand pennies worth of goodwill for charities in the Sault.

Today, they revealed a giant cheque for $18,117 raised through their annual Pennies from Heaven drive.

The money will go to support many local charities, says Grade 10 student Miranda Carlson-Strain.

This year's goal was $19,000 and it's still possible to make that target, Carlson-Strain added.

Money placed in jars at local businesses and from students who are collecting from family and friends is still coming in.

Last year the students and staff at St. Mary's made their $18,000 target and this year they've already surpassed that.

Carlson-Strain is seen in this SooToday.com photo with Vice Principal Christopher Czop, Principal Danny Viotto, fellow Grade 10 student Morgan Thomas and Grade 11 student Mary Presgrave.
