Sault Ste. Marie artist Pat Gladu is a happy, happy man. He's been telling people for years that he's kind of a big deal. A joke of course. But now it's actually true.

Sault Ste. Marie artist Pat Gladu is a happy, happy man.

He's been telling people for years that he's kind of a big deal.

A joke of course.

But now it's actually true.

Gladu's giant, bright red, eco-friendly sculpture is the latest piece to be permanently erected on the waterfront behind the Art Gallery of Algoma.

The installation of Three Winds required great precision and the aid of big burly men, a crane, welders and grinders.

Created using wind and solar power from materials donated by Tenaris Algoma Tubes, the sculpture was inspired by the infamous wind-blown pine tree that resides beside the St. Joseph Island Bridge.

The official unveiling of Three Winds takes place on Sunday at 2 p.m. as part of the conclusion of the 45th Annual Winter Carnival Bon Soo.
