******************************* One man dies in train collision near Earlton

(Earlton, ON) - A collision with a Ontario Northland Railroad passenger train that occurred shortly after 10 a.m. today resulted in the death of one man who was driving a fuel truck.

The driver was taken to Englehart Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger train crossing Mini Farm Road, approximately two kilometres north of Earlton remained on the tracks, but lost approximately 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

No one aboard the train was injured in the incident.

OPP officers on scene advised that the spill was not an immediate danger to the residents.

The Ministry of the Environment are attending the scene to assess the impact on the environment.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator and Dangerous Goods Officers are also investigating this incident.

The name of the deceased is being held pending notification of the next of kin.
