************************* Overnight parking ban winter parking restrictions
Take notice: Effective March 17, 2011, the City of Sault Ste. Marie is not enforcing the overnight and odd/even winter parking restrictions subject to current weather conditions.
Enforcement will resume in the event of a snowfall that requires the streets to be plowed.
The parking restrictions expire April 1 of each year.
Take notice: Effective December 1, 2010, no person except for physicians, ambulance drivers, or undertakers on emergency calls shall park a motor vehicle on any street or alley between the hours of 3 and 6 a.m.
Additionally, no person (with the above exceptions) shall park a motor vehicle on the odd numbered address side of any street.
The odd numbered restriction does not apply to:
- Street segments where signs are currently posted to prohibit parking on one or both sides.
- Streets with designated metered parking spaces or permit parking spaces.
- Ashmun Street between Easterday Avenue and Portage Avenue.
- West Portage Avenue between Gov. Osborn Boulevard and Ashmun Street.
- Bingham Avenue between East Sixth Avenue and East Easterday Avenue.
- Peck Street between West Portage Avenue and Fort Street.
- Ridge Street between Magazine Street and Gov. Osborn Boulevard.
- East Portage Avenue between Bingham Avenue and Mission Street.
This parking prohibition is issued pursuant to Section 24-35, Article III of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Violation of the overnight parking fine will result in a fine of $50. Violation of the winter parking restrictions will result in a fine of $25.
