Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has survived an attack on his motorcade this morning.

International media are giving conflicting initial versions of what happened.

The British Broadcasting Corporation is quoting Gilani's press secretary as saying that the prime minister's car was hit by two bullets as it travelled in Islamabad.

Other media are reporting that Gilani was not in the vehicle at the time - that the convoy was on its way to pick him up.
