‘Overwhelming success’: Walk raises $80K for Alzheimer’s Society

Proceeds from Sunday’s IG Wealth Management 'Walk for Alzheimer’s' will go towards the growing demand for local programs and services

The Alzheimer’s Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma is excited to announce the community raised more than $80,000 at Sunday’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's.

All the proceeds raised from the walk will remain local to support the growing needs of the 3,300 families, caregivers, and people living with dementia in the Sault and surrounding area.

Services at the Alzheimer’s Society that will benefit from these funds include their recreational therapy program, adult day program, transitional support program, Minds in Motion, community outreach support program, First Link, and other educational services.

In an email issued to SooToday, Alzheimer’s Society executive director Terry Caporossi expressed his gratitude for everyone who attended the walk or contributed to the cause.

“We are so appreciative of the support provided by IG Wealth Management, Donnelly Group for their efforts in making this year’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s an overwhelming success,” he says. “They have been great supporters of the walk as the title sponsor and believe in the impact of services provided by the Alzheimer Society. We are fortunate to be a part of such a generous and giving community.”
