Overseas Saultbie stands up for hometown pizza

SooToday.com has received the following e-mail from a loyal Sault-rooted reader now living in Europe.

The message was initially sent to Windsor Star reporter Anne Jarvis in reply to her article portraying that city as home of the planet's best pizza.

************************* Hello Mrs. Jarvis,

I am currently residing in The Netherlands and have been for the past two years.

I cannot tell you how much I dislike the pizza here!

There is something seriously wrong when the “box pizza” you purchase at your local supermarket is a thousand times better than anything you will find in a “pizza shop.”

Let’s just say that I don’t consume too much pizza on this side of the pond.

I really do believe that Mrs. B’s, Superior Pizza or Carmine's Pizza located in Sault Ste. Marie would rock this tiny dot on the map.

It’s too bad I don’t have the recipe!

As I have been out of the pizza circle for quite some time, I may have neglected to name some of the other great pie shops in the Sault.

What I wouldn’t give for some vacuum-packed pizza flown all the way from my hometown.

I think only the most desperate person would make a request like this.

I have had pizza from many different locations around the world and nothing compares to the independently owned shops in my Northern Ontario town.
