************************* Investigation continues into fatal motor collision involving off-duty OPP officer

NAIRN CENTRE, ON - At 3 p.m. on Sunday June 29, Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 Nairn Township, approximately three kilometres west of Nairn Centre.

The driver of the motorcycle, Detective Sergeant Paul Clairmont received fatal injuries.

Detective Sergeant Clairmont was off-duty and operating his personal motorcycle eastbound on Highway 17 when it came into collision with a westbound Pontiac Sunfire.

The investigation is continuing and the police are asking for the public’s assistance with this investigation.

If anyone happened to witness the collision or observed the vehicles prior to the collision they are asked to come forward and contact police.

They are asked to call the Espanola Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The investigation into the collision is being conducted by officers of the Espanola and Sudbury OPP with the assistance of the OPP Northeast Regional Forensic Unit and a technical traffic collision investigator and reconstructionist.
