OPP high-speed chase nabs stolen car from BC

A 22-year-old man from Kingston, Ontario is in custody and a vehicle believed stolen in British Columbia has been seized after a high-speed chase in Plummer Additional Township.

A 22-year-old man from Kingston, Ontario is in custody and a vehicle believed stolen in British Columbia has been seized after a high-speed chase in Plummer Additional Township.

Speeds up to 140 kilometres an hour were reported in the chase, which was brought to a conclusion by five cruisers on Big Perch Bay Road.

East Algoma OPP were in the Iron Bridge area when they observed a speeding car fitting the description of a fleeing suspect vehicle reported earlier in the evening in the Warren area.

Police tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver refused so police chased it.

No vehicles were damaged and no injuries reported.

The pursued vehicle was reported stolen in British Columbia almost one month ago.

Three people were arrested.

The driver is facing several charges including failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, mischief and breach of bail conditions.

Christopher Matthew Lelacheur, 22, of Kingston is being held in custody pending further investigation and a bail review tomorrow in the Sault.
