************************* East Fire Region situation update
Friday August 10th, 2007 – 0900hrs
HIGHLIGHTS:
• four new; 23 active fires. • 423 fires; 7,698.7 hectares to date since April 1.
DETAILS:
There have been four new fires in the last 24 hours.
Bancroft district had one new fire that is not yet under control.
Sudbury district also had one new fire that is being held at 0.1 hectares in size.
Timmins district had one new fire as well that is 0.4 hectares in size and is being held.
Chapleau district also had one new fire that is 0.1 hectares in size and not yet under control.
The weather in the far northern part of the East Fire Region will be mainly cloudy with periods of rain/ showers.
A mixture of sun and cloud is expected elsewhere, although there is a risk of afternoon thunderstorms developing over northeastern Ontario.
The winds will be light occasionally moderate, while the temperatures will be close to normal.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.
Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
