The former police chief of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians and his daughter are facing several years in prison if convicted of federal charges against them, Michigan news agencies are reporting. Frederick Paquin and Mary Cullen have been accused of conspiring to defraud the United States.

The charges include allegations that Paquin paid his daughter as a full-time tribe employee after she had stopped working full-time.

The case against them goes to trial next month in Marquette.
