Northeast Region

There are currently 32 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of these fires 26 are being observed and 6 are under control.

There has been one new confirmed fire since yesterday’s report:

  • Wawa 10 is a 0.2 hectare fire located on the west side of Dog Lake across from Rabbit Island, about 7.4 kilometers west of Missanabie. The status of this fire is under control.

Ontario has responded to British Columbia's request for assistance in that province's ongoing wildland fire situation. On July 28, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services sent two Incident Management Teams (35 personnel) to B.C. and one Agency Representative to the Northwest Territories. An Incident Management Team consists of a framework of staff that perform command and organizational roles for one or multiple fires.

The fire hazard varies from moderate to high across the Northeast region, except for areas south and southeast of Parry Sound and North Bay where the fire hazard is low. For a closer look at fire hazard conditions in your area, view our interactive map.

Fires of note:

  • There are no fires of note for the Northeast Fire Region at this time.

Help fight forest fires: Stay clear of waterbombers!

When waterbombers approach a body of water, move close to the shore so they can perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard. Be safe, stay clear of waterbombers.

No Drone Zone: Be safe, stay clear of forest fires!

Flying drones around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal. When you fly a drone near a forest fire, you can put the lives of pilots, firefighters and other emergency personnel at risk. Be safe, stay clear of forest fires.
